Andrew L. Weeder

OSMOND — Services for Andrew L. Weeder, 90, Osmond, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Osmond. The Revs. David Liewer and James Weeder will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 326 and VFW Post 7838 of Osmond. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday with a 7 p.m. rosary at the church. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond is in charge of the arrangements. He died Monday, March 30, 2015, at Osmond Care Center. Andrew L. Weeder was born on a farm south of Osmond to Adolph and Rose (Poeffel) Weeder on Dec. 4, 1924. He received his education from District 34, St. Mary’s Catholic School and Osmond High School. On Jan. 10, 1945, Andrew was united in marriage to Annabell Kalvelage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Osmond. Andrew served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. The couple then farmed south of Osmond and raised their five children, Carol, Daniel, Roger, Michael and Jacqueline. In 1991, they retired from the farm and moved into Osmond. Andrew enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and socializing. Together Andrew and Annabell liked traveling, spending time with their family and being the caretakers of St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of which he took great pride. Andrew was a life long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, American Legion Post 326 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7838. He served on the parish council, St. Mary’s Cemetery Board, District 42 School Board, Extension Board, Osmond Co-op board and the Pork Producers. Andrew is survived by his wife of 70 years, Annabell Weeder of Osmond; daughters, Carol Houchin of Omaha and Jacqueline (James) Clough of Mason, Ohio; sons, Daniel (Connie) Weeder of Osmond, Roger (Radha) Weeder of Jacksonville, Fla., and Michael Weeder of Osmond; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Nissen of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Rose; brothers, Mark and Edwin; sisters, Marie Hoffman, Sister Richardine Weeder, Dorothy Weeder, Sister Loretta Weeder and Jean Hoffman; son-in-law Robert Houchin and daughter-in-law Sharon Weeder.
