Thomas "Tom" R. Neuhalfen

NORFOLK – Funeral service for Thomas R. “Tom” Neuhalfen, 57, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Father Pat McLaughlin and Father David Korth will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, rural Madison. Visitation will be 4-7:00 p.m., Friday, October 6, also at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk. Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday following the visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the family for a later designation. Tom passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the UNMC Buffett Cancer Center in Omaha. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Tom was born on October 1, 1965 in Yankton, SD to Vernon and Phyllis (McCoy) Neuhalfen. He attended Holy Trinity School in Hartington, graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1984, graduated from Northeast Community College in Utility Line in 1986, and later graduated from Culinary Institute in Mitchell, SD in 1989. Tom married Becky Jansen on April 12, 1997 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. Tom owned and operated The Brass Lantern Restaurant in Norfolk until 2006. He currently was a District Sales Consultant at Cash-Wa Distributing for the past 16 years. Tom was just awarded Sales Consultant of the month in September. Tom loved spending time with his family and going to the girl’s events, watching Dallas Cowboys, and Huskers. Tom enjoyed working outside on his lawn and his flowers, and sitting on the deck with a beer enjoying time with family and friends. Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Parish/St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk and the Knights of Columbus. Tom is survived by his spouse Becky Neuhalfen of Norfolk, daughters Emma Neuhalfen of Omaha, Anna Neuhalfen of Lincoln, siblings Jan (Mike) Miller of Jewel, Iowa, Dr. Elizabeth “Beth” Neuhalfen of Eatonville, Wash., Bob (Maggie) Neuhalfen of Ogallala, Don (Kim) Neuhalfen of Sioux Falls, Jeff (Cathy) Neuhalfen of Lavonia, Mich., Ken Neuhalfen and special friend Danita Owens of Laurel, Phil Neuhalfen (special friend Suzette Goodwater) of Sparks, NV, Mary (Rod) Colfack of Norfolk, Paulette Neuhalfen of Des Moines, IA, John (Jolene) Neuhalfen of Kieler, Wis., sisters-in-law Julie Neuhalfen of Glenwood, Iowa and Sharon Neuhalfen of Arlington, in-laws Bob (Margaret) Jansen of Leigh, Gary Jansen of Coleridge, Pat (Leroy) vonGlan of Norfolk, Jean (Warren) Blank of Madison, and Joyce Leinenweaver of Norfolk. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Vernon and Phyllis, brothers Michael, Charles, Pat, father-in-law and mother-in-law Marvin and Bertha Jansen, and brother-in-law Jim Jansen. Casket bearers will be Austin Neuhalfen, Ryan Miller, T.D. Hartner, Garret Hartner, David Kassmeier, and Jared Meikle.
