Alice E. Nelson

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Alice E. Nelson, 77, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 25, 2024 at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Robert Wiest will be officiating the service. Interment will be at the Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Alice passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Faith Reginal Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Alice was born on July 23, 1946 in Norfolk to Elmer and Esther (Krueger) Chapman. Alice lived in rural Stanton until 1956. Alice attended District 12 (Bega) School. The family moved south of Norfolk for one year, later moving west of Pierce. Alice graduated from Pierce High School in 1965. In January of 1966 Alice moved to Southern California, with her brother Lloyd and his wife Judy, where she worked for Hanibal Glass in Santa Ana, CA. Alice missed her family and friends, so she moved back to Nebraska where she met her husband, Jerry Nelson. Alice and Jerry got married on July 6, 1968, to which they were married for 55 years always living in the Norfolk area. Alice worked for Sherwood Medical for 40 years, retiring in 2006. Retirement allowed her time to pursue traveling on their motorcycle; which included numerous trips to Washington on the west coast, to New York on the east coast, and several trips into Canada. Alice took fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada with her friends. Winter cruises and bus trips were part of their busy travels and adventures as well. Alice definitely enjoyed traveling in their fifth wheel camper including many of their company friends. Alice was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Alice is survived by her spouse Jerry Nelson of Norfolk, siblings Earl (Jane) Chapman of Richland, Lloyd (Peggy) Chapman of Menifee, CA, Lester (Loretta) Chapman of Norfolk, Guy Chapman of Fayetteville, NC, and numerous nieces, and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Esther, brother Keith, sister Darlene Price, brother-in-law Dale Price, sisters-in-law Elaine Chapman, Judy Chapman, and June Chapman. Casket bearers will be Brett Chapman, Tyler Hulse, David Chapman, Ayrton Cornic, Dane Krueger, and Lloyd Wragge. Honorary casket bearers will be Brian Chapman and James Chapman.
