Alice M. Thorson

NORFOLK – Funeral service for Alice M. Thorson, 84 of Norfolk formerly of Wayne, will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lee Weander. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Alice passed away on August 15, 2025 at South Haven Nursing home in Wahoo, NE. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Alice was born May 19, 1941 in Wayne to Herman and Esther Marie Victoria (Bergerson) Fuoss. She was baptized on February 1, 1945 in Wayne. She graduated from H. H. Hahn Campus High School, Wayne in 1958. Alice was united in marriage to Noel Bennett on February 5, 1961 and they had two sons, Gregg and Rod. Later in life, Alice reconnected with an old neighbor, Jean DeWald whom she spent over 20 years with in Norfolk until he passed and then she moved to Wahoo, in 2018 to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Alice spent much of her life on their farm near Wayne where she raised her two sons. She could cook up a storm and always had dessert. She loved the outdoors. She enjoyed gardening, canning and her flowers. But nothing was more important to her than her family. Alice loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews all spent summers at the farm. Everyone loved spending time at Auntie Alices. She was full of spunk and was very competitive. She had a big heart and an infectious laugh! Alice is survived by her sons, Gregg Bennett, Rod (Tammy) Bennett; grandchildren, Heather Bennett, Jennifer Bennett, Brooke Bennett, Travis (Megan) Bennett, Kayla (Dylan) McGill, Zane Bennett; great-grandchildren, Brodi Christensen, Khloe Fuehrer, Madison McGill, Miley McGill, Maggie McGill, Gemma Bennett, Wyatt Bennett, brother Earl (Janet) Fuoss, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her special friend Jean DeWald, her parents Herman and Esther Fuoss, brothers Ted Fuoss, Sam Fuoss, Marvin Fuoss, sisters Esther Test, Evelyn Reikofski, and Gayle Henegar. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren: Heather Bennett, Jennifer Bennett, Brooke Bennett, Travis Bennett, Megan Bennett, Kayla McGill, Dylan McGill, and Zane Bennett.
