Alvin "Bud" Lee Jonson

NORFOLK -- Services for Alvin "Bud" Jonson, 81, of Pierce will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel at Norfolk. Officiating will be Reverend Gordon Bruce and Vicar Jonathan Baker. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, with burial be at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Bud passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Premier Estates, Pierce, Nebraska. He was born on Dec. 20, 1936, at Norfolk, the son of Alvin K. and Grace (Steppat) Jonson. He was baptized on Jan. 12, 1939, at Zion East Lutheran Church, rural Hoskins. He was confirmed on May 28, 1950, at Zion East Lutheran Church, rural Hoskins. He was educated at Dist. 55, Hoskins, and attended Winside High School to 10th grade. He served in the U.S. Army, was stationed in Germany, from Nov. 7, 1955, to Oct. 17, 1957. He was married to Arvis Ausdemore in 1960. After he was married, the couple lived in Arlington. Bud worked at Alfalfa Dehydration Plant.The family moved to Beatrice. Bud worked for Missile Site 5 for two years. The family moved back to Norfolk. Bud worked for Theisen Construction driving a scraper. The family moved to Fremont where Bud was a welder for Stormor for eight years. Bud moved back to Pierce in 1976 and worked at Amoco, Conoco and Tom’s Service and retired in 2007. The couple was divorced. Bud enjoyed his time with family and grandchildren, gardening and taking care of his yard and pets, gambling, playing scratch cards and word search puzzles. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and the Pierce American Legion and V.F.W., Norfolk. Survivors include one son, Rod and wife Julie Jonson of Pierce, daughter Cathy Logan of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, Jamie (Paul) Marymee, Alexis, Michael, Bridgette, Stephen Brandy (Derek) Price, Izzabelle, Easton, Sophia; Brooke (David) Drees, Cambrie, Beckett, R.J. Jonson; Bryan (Amanda) Jonson, Damion, Andrew; Amber (Scott) Anderson; Megan Koester, Isaac; one sister Karen (Ralph) Krueger of Norfolk. He was preceded in death by: his parents Alvin and Grace, one sister Eleanor Kohorn, one great-grandson Bentley, and lifetime friend Arvis Porath. For the service, organist will be Linda Peekenschneider. Soloist will be Jill McElhose who will sing “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagles Wings.” Congregational hymn will be “What A Friend We Have In Jesus.” Casket bearers are Doug Krueger, Paul Hannah, Chris Logan, Bryan Jonson, Derek Price, David Drees, R.J. Jonson and Michael Marymee. Honorary casket bearers are Jamie Marymee, Brandy Price, Brooke Drees, Amber Anderson, Megan Koester and Amanda Jonson.
