Betty Ann Matuska

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Betty Ann Matuska, 85, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday December 4, 2025 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Pastor Jeff Schipper will be officiating the service. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Betty passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Premier Estates Nursing Home in Pierce. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Betty Ann Matuska (Flesner) was born on September 25th,1940 in rural Pierce Ne, near Foster, NE. She was born to Bernhard (Ben) and Tollie (Pierce) Flesner, where she had 14 siblings. Betty grew up on a farm, and graduated from Pierce high school. After graduation, Betty and her sister Sharon moved to Omaha, NE where they worked at Woodman circle together for a short period of time. While in Omaha, Betty met her husband, Melvin Matuska. During their time together they had 4 children. Shelly, James, Sheila, and Bernie. Betty was a stay-at-home mother until their children were old enough to attend school. When she started to work again, she worked for Priority Data for 15 years. During Betty's younger years she enjoyed traveling to new places, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends. In 1995 she moved to Tempe, Arizona where she was a successful business owner/operator. After living in Arizona for 8 years, she sold her business and moved back to Norfolk, NE to be closer to family. Betty then worked at Dollar General part time for 10 years. Later in life Betty still enjoyed being around her friends and family but she also loved playing cards, watching Husker sports, getting her nails done by her great grandchildren, and baking with her grandchildren. The two things Betty loved most in life was Jesus and her family. Betty is survived by her daughter Sheila Matuska of Norfolk, NE, son Bernie Matuska of Omaha, NE, her sister Sharon (Jim) Riedel of Randolph, NE, brother Ronnie Flesner of Fremont, her sister in laws Helen Flesner of Norfolk, NE and Marilyn Flesner of Pierce, Ne, her grandchildren Matthew Moffet, Ryan and Daniel Leiting, Josh Stoffer, and Dennis Thomas, and her great grandchildren Zane, Lexi, Van, Ryanna, and Kardi. Betty is preceded in death by her children James and Shelly Matuska, her parents Ben and Tollie Flesner, and her siblings Howard, George, Everett, Edwin (Pood), May, Willis (Buzz), Ray, Alvin (AL) Flesner, Dorthy Skeels, Freda Edwards, LaVon (Bonnie) Ferris, and Marlene Jordan.
