NORFOLK -- Funeral services for Carol A. Palmer, 86, of Norfolk will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Shepherd of Peace Church in Norfolk, NE. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Norfolk. Pastor Luther Zuberbier will be officiating the services. The service will be live-streamed on the Stonacek Funeral Chapel Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/stonacekfuneralchapel/. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026 from 2-5 p.m. at Shepherd of Peace Church in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorials be made to NELHS Highschool Tuition Fund. Carol passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Carol was born on January 20, 1940 to Edwin and Irene (Johnston) Ellenberger in Norfolk, NE. She attended grade school at St. Paul’s Parochial School in Norfolk before graduating from Norfolk Senior High School. On May 5th, 1956 she married Norman Putnam on her parent’s home place, the couple were married for 15 years before Norman passed away in 1971. On January 2nd, 1977 she married Duane Palmer at the Johnson Stonacek Chapel in Norfolk. Norman and Carol bought Ellenberger Produce from her parents in 1966. After Norman died Carol continued on with the business for 25 years. She then went to work at Day-Light Donuts before working at Dale Electronics. She also worked part time as a receptionist at Visible Changes Salon before retiring from there on July 31, 2011. She enjoyed vacationing with her husband and spending the winters in Mission, Texas where they had many friends. Carol is survived by her husband K. Duane Palmer, children; Ward (Karen) Putnam of Omaha, Teresa (Craig) Carstens of Meadow Grove, Kevin (Jodie) Palmer of Norfolk, Kristy (Jeff) Braithwaite of Omaha, Tammy (Joe) Crooker of Ainsworth, daughter-in-law Shelly Palmer of Norfolk, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, sisters; Phyllis Schutt of Norfolk, Sue (Dale) Pohlman of Norfolk, Fran (Larry) Collyard of Watertown Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her first husband Norman, parents Ed and Irene Ellenberger, sons; Todd Putnam and Ken Palmer, and sisters Ruby (Dick) Haase, Barb Deitloff, and Elaine Marks.
