David "Dave" H. Asmus

PIERCE -- Funeral service for David H. “Dave” Asmus, age 67, of Hoskins, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Pierce. Officiating the service will be Reverend Jacob Tuma. Visitation for Dave will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Pierce, NE. Interment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pierce. Dave passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 at Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE. Arrangements by Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce, NE. Dave was born January 23, 1958 in Norfolk, NE, to Donald and Donna (Frink) Asmus. Dave grew up on the Asmus family farm in the Hoskins area. Dave was baptized at Peace Church, later confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce. Dave went to grade school at the country school in Hoskins, and graduated from Winside High School in 1976. Dave enjoyed riding horses. He showed at different county fairs, competed in the pole and barrel racing, and participated in team roping. He also raced his horses at the Pierce County Fair. Dave also loved playing cards with family and friends. Dave belonged to Northeast Nebraska Tractor Pullers Association for 10 years, and later was a part of the Nebraska Bush Pullers and The Outlaw Pullers for several years. After marrying Julie, they farmed in the Hoskins area. Dave was a member at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Pierce, NE. Their son Curt and his wife Theresa along with their son Wyatt continue with the farming operation. Survivors include wife Julie Asmus of Hoskins, daughters, Jenifer (Ryan) Brenden of Pierce, Amy (Chad) Miller of Pierce, son Curt (Theresa) Asmus of Hoskins, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild and twins on the way. Mother Donna Asmus of Pierce, siblings Doug (Jan) Asmus of Norfolk, Debra (Roger) Woslager of Pierce, Dwayne (Kelly) Asmus of Hoskins, Darin (Tonja) Asmus of Norfolk, and Dean (Cami) Asmus of Randolph, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Donald Asmus. Organist will be Grace Tuma. Casket bearers will be Zachary Brenden, Wyatt Asmus, Logan Asmus, Casey Asmus, Cody Asmus, Derek Asmus, and Tyler Woslager.
