Delbert M. Petersen

Services for Delbert M. Petersen will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at United Methodist Church in Wausa. Visitation is Monday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Osmond. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. He died January 6, 2012 at Osmond General Hospital. Delbert Milo Petersen was born November 15, 1944, in Marne, Iowa, to Milo and Elsie (Suhr) Petersen. He graduated in 1962 from Kerkhoven High School in Kerkhoven, Minnesota. Delbert married Barbara Giese on June 17, 1967 at Willmar, Minnesota. They were married 44 years, and to this union ten children were born.Delowned and operated a milk route. He had a passion for horses and was an avid horse buyer and seller; which he did until his death. Del could be seen at horse sales across the United States. He lost his battle to emphysema on January 6, 2012 at Osmond General Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. Delbert is survived by his wife Barbara Petersen of Magnet; 10 Children: Randy and Becky Petersen Kensington, MN; Sheri Albrecht and special friend Kevin Pfanstiel of Pierce, NE; Sandy Petersen of Hartington, NE; Danny and wife Carmen Petersen of Randolph; Kandi Petersen and special friend James Olsen of Wynot, NE; Tanya and husband Virgil Tyer of Tahlequah, OK; Leanay Petersen of Magnet, NE; Karla Petersen of Magnet, NE; David and wife Gina Petersen of Magnet, NE; Kyle Petersen of Magnet, NE; 21 Grandchildren; One Great-granddaughter Kenley ; Mother in law Gladys Giese of Lamberton, MN; Sister Judy and husband Mike Elliott of Pennock, MN; Brother-in-law Buddy Monson of Pennock, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother David; two sisters: Elaine Noethe and Darlene Monson; father-in-law Gerald Giese; and brother-in-law Francis Noethe. Officiating at the service is Reverend Samm Johnston. Organist will be Mari Gay Jackson with congregational hymns "Amazing Grace" and "Old Rugged Cross". And prerecorded song "If I Had Only Known". Casket bearers are Aaron Petersen, David Petersen, Kyle Petersen, Brennen Petersen, Danny Petersen Jr., Tiffany Petersen, Bethany Wortmann, and Kortany Albrecht. Honorary casket bearers are Rachel, Jeffrey, Jackie, Milah, Dairian, Emma , Reanna, Wyatt, Bailey, Dusty, Trista, Kenny, Jyler, Emma, David Jr., and Kenley.
