Denice R. Olnes

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Denice R. Olnes, 63, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk, with Pastor Rod Pedersen officiating the service. Burial will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Denice passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the family for a later designation. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on July 17, 1955, at St. Paul, Neb., the daughter of Richard and Arlene (Christensen) Pedersen. She attended grade school at St. Paul and graduated from St. Paul High School. She married Eugene “Gene” Olnes on Feb. 3, 1995, at St. Paul. Denice was first married to Dan Wells. To this union, they had four children: Chad, Becky, Marcus and Danielle. They later divorced. After her marriage to Gene, they lived in St. Paul, Loup City and then they made an extended vacation at Port Aransas, Texas, until making Norfolk their home in 2014. Denice was proud to be sober since 1985. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, craft camps and spending time with grandchildren and attending their events. She loved her family very much, spending time with them meant a lot to her. Survivors include her husband Gene Olnes of Norfolk, children Chad (Brenda) Wells of St. Paul, Becky (Darren Jensen) Wells of Bloomfield, Marcus Wells of Norfolk, Danielle (Tracy) Lammers of Norfolk, stepson Shawn Olnes of Hastings; numerous grandchildren, siblings Vickie (Tom) Jorgensen of Seward, Barry (Linda) Pedersen of Hastings, the Rev. Rod (Cathy) Pedersen of Crete, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and mother-in-law Lavonne Olnes of Plainview. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Arlene, and father-in-law Lowell Olnes, daughter-in-law Phyliss Wells . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family for a later designation. Casket bearers will be Shawn Olnes, Quinn O’Brien, Brittany O’Brien, Brayden Lammers, Calvin Lammers, Sydney Wells, Conner Wells, Kayley Wells, Hunter Lammers, Sophia Lammers and Ella Lammers.
