NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Donald G. "Don" Miller, 83, of Omaha, formerly of Pierce, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Rev. Terry Buol will be officiating the service. Following the funeral luncheon, interment will be held at the Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service on Saturday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Tomek-Otto Post #72 American Legion from Pierce and the United States Army Honors Guard. Funeral service for Donald will also be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2024 at the West Center Chapel, 7805 West Center Road, Omaha, with a visitation beginning 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Josie Harper Hospice House or to Pierce Community Foundation. Don passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, surrounded by his family and loved ones in Omaha, Nebraska. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the local arrangements. Don was born in Fort Riley, Kansas, on August 23, 1941. His family settled in Pierce, Nebraska, where Don spent most of his childhood. Don graduated from Pierce High School in 1959. He continued his education at Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska, receiving his BS. He was in the Army from 1962-1964. Don married Grace (Gavit) of Pierce, Nebraska, on January 7, 1967. He then married Brenda Lee on August 3, 2024. Don and Grace had three children, Cindy, Suzie and Steven. They moved several times early in their marriage, as he worked for AC Nielson Market Research, before settling in Omaha. After retiring, Don worked for Airborne Express and DHL, as a delivery driver. Don enjoyed fishing, Husker games and any activities that his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were involved in. He coached soccer and basketball when his kids were young. He rarely missed a game, recital, or performance. In the summers, he would get one or more of his grandkids and go fishing. I think they liked the Bronco's or ice cream afterwards, just as much! In September, he traveled to Kansas and Oklahoma to watch soccer and softball games. His life was proudly lived. Don will be dearly missed and always remembered. He is survived by daughters, Cindy (Vish) Sukhram, Suzie (Todd) Vogeler; son, Steven (Laura) Miller; eleven grandchildren: Khem, Arun, Maya, Neela, Jessica (Dan), Matthew (Scott), Torie, Brayden, Madisen, Christopher (Morgan) and Ellie; four great-grandchildren: Addelyn, Ryver, Krishna, Kalin; wife, Brenda; sisters, Diane (Bill) Austin, and Maryann Oleson; many other family and friends.
