Donna June Brown

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Donna J. Brown, 87, of Norfolk will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk with Rev. Leon Rosenthal officiating. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Donna passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Immanuel Fontenelle nursing home in Omaha, NE. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Donna June Brown was born June 2, 1930, in Madison, the daughter of Henry and Agnes (Buettner) Platt. She graduated from Madison High School in 1948. She married Gary A. Logan on June 4, 1950. To this union were born six children. They lived in Norfolk, where Donna worked at the Norfolk Daily News, Sherwood Medical on the line and then at Dales Electronics until 1980. Donna then worked in the cafeteria at the Nebraska Veterans Home until she retired in 1992. On June 2, 1979, she married Gene A. Brown. Gene died in 2007. She enjoyed playing cards, feeding her cats, gardening, canning, seamstress work, and she especially loved watching her grandchildren. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and its ladies aid, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and the American Legion Auxiliary. Donna moved to the Immanuel Fontenelle Home in Omaha in November 2011 and lived there until her death. Survivors are her son, Chris Logan of Norfolk; her daughters, Suzanne (Dennis) Lambirth of Omaha, Laura (Stan) Heider of Lincoln, Peggy Harvey of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Julie (Joe) Howerton of Chandler, Ariz.; a sister, Janice (Robert) Nesladek of North Bend; 11 grandchildren, Josh (Rebecca) Wiehn of Tehachapi, Calif., Mark (Sara) Wiehn of Gardner, Kan., Samuel (Amanda) Heider of West Point, N.Y., Joseph (Miriam) Heider of Lincoln, Bethany (Kevin) Crow of Muskogee, Okla., Philip (Sarah) Heider of Wylie, Texas, Austin Heider of Omaha, Matthew Heider of Lincoln, Logan Greenfield of Saint Louis, Mo., Kaycee (Jackson) Kube of Houston, Texas, and Collin Hansen of Chandler, Ariz.; 22 great-grandchildren with three more due in early 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Agnes (Buettner) Platt; sisters Dorothy Platt and Adeline Kmoch; a son, Jon Scott Logan; a granddaughter, Leah Heider; and both spouses, Gary Logan and Gene Brown. Organist will be Terri J. Hankins, and soloist will be Mark Kruger. Casketbearers will be Matthew Heider, Collin Hansen, Joe Heider, Philip Heider, Mark Wiehn and Joe Howerton.
