Donna L. Galvin

NORFOLK – Memorial service for Donna L. Galvin, 96, of Hadar, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Pastor Jim and Pastor Kathleen Splitt will be officiating the service. Inurnment will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Donna passed away on April 21, 2026 at Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Donna was born on July 17, 1929 in Plainview, NE to Thomas and Frieda (Hoffart) Smalley. She grew up in Plainview and attended Plainview Public Schools. Donna married Dennis Galvin on November 28, 1949 in Plainview, Nebraska. After marriage the couple lived in Osmond, Randolph, and then Norfolk in 1961 where Donna worked for Sherwood Medical for 30 years. Donna enjoyed listening to Alan Jackson as her favorite country music singer. She was fortunate to be able to attend one of his concerts. Her favorite past times were doing ceramics, going to the casinos with her brother Jack and sister-in-law Gloria. On Sundays you could be sure Donna was watching the Nascar race and routing for her favorite driver, Kevin Harvick. Donna enjoyed dancing to Polka music at Riverside. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Donna is survived by her sons Dan Galvin (significant other Connie Zastrow) of Hadar, David Galvin (significant other Kim Halsey) of Norfolk, sister Patricia (Les) Ronk of Tennessee, sister-in-law Marie Smalley of Norfolk, 2 grandchildren Melissa (Jay) Svoboda of Lincoln, Courtney Galvin of Lincoln, great-grandchildren Sloan and McCabe, and many nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Frieda Smalley, husband Dennis Galvin, two sons Douglas and Dale, brothers Larry, Jack, Ronny, and Dennis.
