PIERCE Services for Donna Rae Riedel, 72, Pierce, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. The Rev. Gordon Bruce and Vicar Nathan Abel will officiate with burial in Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. She died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Premier Estates in Pierce. Memorials may be directed to Lutheran Hour Mission Central of Mapleton, Iowa. The daughter of Henry and Amanda (Strelow) Werner was born April 21, 1943, in Pierce. She was baptized on May 2, 1943, and confirmed April 14, 1957, by the Rev. Sheips at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. She attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School and graduated as valedictorian from Pierce High School in 1961. She attended Midland Lutheran College. On Jan. 5, 1963, she and Reuben Riedel were married by the Rev. Harms at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. They lived in Pierce, where Donna worked 31 years at the Pierce County Courthouse, as deputy clerk for 15 years and clerk 16 years. They then moved to Holdrege, where Donna was a bank officer for United Nebraska Bank for 10 years. She retired in 2007. They moved back to Pierce in 2010. Donna enjoyed going to family events, vacations out west to the mountains, her grandchildren’s activities, baking, flowers, sewing and reading. They were married 52 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, the altar guild and served as superintendent of the Sunday school. Survivors are her spouse, Reuben Riedel of Pierce; son Brian (Julie) Riedel of Omaha and Dean (Jennifer) Riedel of Jackson; seven grandchildren; and a sister, Helen (Bill) Holmes of Jackson, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amanda. Organist for the funeral will be Mrs. Dottie Ahlers with the congregation singing “Abide With Me,” “Take My Hand and Lead Me Home” and “How Great Thou Art.” Casketbearers are Bill Buckendahl, Don Deleay, Marvin Mills, Steve Holmes, Ron Kramer, Jay Riedel and Dick Zierke.
