OSMOND — Elsie Pfanstiel, 101, of Osmond died Monday, June 4, 2012, at Golden Living Center at Wausa. Services will be at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osmond, at 11 a.m. Saturday with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Norfolk. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Osmond. The Rev. Gary Trowbridge will officiate. ——— She was born March 26, 1911, at Osmond to Henry and Laura (Kahler) Davids. She was baptized May 19, 1911, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eden Valley, and confirmed there June 28, 1925. She attended school through the eighth grade. She was married to Carl Pfanstiel July 20, 1927, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osmond. Elsie grew up northwest of Osmond in the Eden Valley. She went eight years to country school at District 78. Elsie and Carl farmed east of Osmond until they moved to Rushville. They farmed and ran a dairy there until 1943 when they moved back to Osmond. Elsie worked as an aide at the Osmond General Hospital. They moved to Norfolk in 1964 where she then worked at the Lutheran Hospital. She took care of her husband after an illness and her mother. She always welcomed family to stay with her while they were going to college or just needing a place to stay while getting on their feet. In 1996, she moved back to Osmond to the Maple Hill Apartments. She loved it there with the ladies putting puzzles together and spending time with Emma. She enjoyed going places and having visitors. She loved to see nieces, nephews and grandchildren to stop in to say hi. She was an avid bowler and won many trophies. Elsie enjoyed gardening and sewing. She had been a resident of Golden Living Center at Wausa since February 2011. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Survivors are two daughters, Darlean Moore of Ames, Iowa, and Doyle and husband Ralph Timmerman of Osmond, and 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl in 1973; daughter Ruth Wegner and three sons-in-laws Al Moore, Elden Hand and Don Wegner; and two grandsons, David Nelson and James Reding. Congregational hymns will be “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “For All The Saints,” “What A Friend We Have in Jesus.” Casket bearers will be Todd Timmerman, Craig Timmerman, Mike Wegner, Chris Reding, Leon Moore, Doug Moore. Honorary casket bearers will be Irene Hall, Karen Reding, Pat Wieland, Lavon Hester, Tammy Shaffer, Kim Wattier.
