Eric C. Abate

NORFOLK – Memorial service for Eric C. Abate, 46, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lee Weander. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service time on Thursday also at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a later designation. The service will be live-streamed beginning just prior to the service at https://www.youtube.com/@oslnorfolkne. Military Rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, and the United States Army Honor Guard. Eric passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024 at his home in Norfolk surrounded by his family. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Eric was born on January 10, 1978 in Providence, Rhode Island to Wendy Abate and Anthony Alves. He graduated from Bristol High School. Eric served in the United States Army from July 24, 1998 to November 12, 2000. He worked at Warren Electric and the Pizza Shop and then at Continental in Norfolk. He married Sheena Kehren on May 5, 2014 at Ta-ha Zooka Park in Norfolk. He loved going to Disney World with his family. His favorite holiday was the 4th of July and he enjoyed hosting a 4th of July party every year at his home with his family and friends shooting off fireworks. Eric loved watching the Daily Dose of internet with his daughter Daisy, they called themselves “Team Double D”. He also enjoyed playing video games Bluey and Sonic with his son Elias. He loved going back to Rhode Island and going to the beach with his family. His favorite team was the New England Patriots and especially watching “the goat” Tom Brady. Eric also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin being his favorite. Eric always knew how to light up a room with his personality and being around his family was his greatest joy of all. He is survived by his wife Sheena Abate, children Daisy Ann Abate and Elias John Anthony Abate, mother Wendy Alves (life partner Jim), sister Ashley (Glenn) Roia and their son Ashton, brother Ryan (Gina) Alves and their children Logan and Charlotte, and mother-in-law Mary Kehren. He was preceded in death by his father Anthony Alves, grandparents Charles and Anne Abate, godmother and Auntie Marsha, cousin Hannah Chamberlin, and uncle Joe Ledford “Papa”.
