Gladys M. Weis

NORFOLK -- Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys M. Weis, 79, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk. Father Dan Andrews will officiate with the burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 3pm Sunday with visitation following until 7pm at Stonacek Funeral Home in Norfolk. Gladys died at home Thursday December 31, 2015 after a couragous battle with cancer. The daughter of Harold and Geralda (Wingert) Klein was born December 3, 1936 on the family farm in Panama, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic church and attended rural schools before graduating from St Joseph's Catholic High School in Dunlap, Iowa in 1954. She married Joseph Weis on November 26, 1960 at St Cecilia's Cathedral Church in Omaha. In 1967, the couple moved to Norfolk where Gladys worked at Dale Electronics and JC Penney. Things most precious to Gladys were her faith in God, her family and friends. She loved to, cook, bake, sew quilts, attend all of her grandchildren's activities and spend time visiting with friends. Over the years Gladys volunteered for Meals on Wheels, Adoration Prayer Chain, Rosary Crusade and helping in the church gift shop. She was a member of St Mary's and Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. Survivors include her husband Joseph of 55 years; children and their spouses Laura ( Mark) Krueger of Hoskins, Larry (Joni) Weis of Winside, Sara (Mark) Deuel of Norfolk and Mary (Scott) Roberts of Dunlap, IA; grandchildren Jesse (finance Caitlyn Shaffer), Samantha, Seth and Kirsten Weis, Chris and Megan Deuel and David Roberts; Step grandchildren Travis (Jessica) Krueger, Tonya Roberts, Justin (Allie) Davis, Jacob Davis, Mashala Davis and Alex Davis; and 5 Step great grandchildren; sisters Alma (Ken) Bissen of Lebanon, TN, and JoAnn (Jim) Gray of Dunlap, IA; brothers Harold Jr. "Sonny" (Rose) Klein of Omaha, NE, Ronald (Barbara) Klein of Colchester, VT, and Russell (Joyce) Klein of Denison, IA; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Geralda Klein and sister Grace Klein-Faulkner. Casket Bearers are her grandchildren, Jesse Weis, Samantha Weis, Seth Weis, Kirsten Weis, Christopher Deuel, Megan Deuel, and David Roberts.
