Irene Korth

PIERCE -- Services for Irene Korth, 85, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church here with burial in the parish cemetery and the Rev. Gordon Bruce officiating. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel. She died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Pierce Manor. The daughter of Charlie and Anna (Zila) Pospisil was born April 18, 1926, at Randolph. She was baptized and confirmed Feb. 9, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce. Her education was through the eighth grade at Pierce country school. She was married to Alvin W. Korth Oct. 27, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church parsonage by the Rev. M.F. Sheips. After their marriage they farmed in Madison and Pierce counties. They moved to Pierce in 1960 and started Korth Repair, being in business for 45 years. Irene was the bookkeeper and secretary for Korth Repair. Irene was a resident of the Pierce Manor since January 2008. She enjoyed gardening, bingo, family, playing cards and dancing. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include six children, Sharon Johnson, Karen Olson, Kevin and wife Tammie Korth, Brenda and husband Don Roberts, Brian Korth and Michael Korth, all of Pierce; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sister Helen Kratochvil of Pierce; brother-in-law Walleen Korth of Creighton; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Korth of Norfolk and Norma Pospisil of Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin March 31, 2006; daughter Barbara Ann; daughter-in-law Joy Korth; one grandson; one granddaughter; son-in-law "Slim" Johnson; four brothers, Ervin, Elmer, Louis and William; and one sister, Bernita. Organist will be Linda Peekenschneider and soloist Rick Higgins. "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace", Congregational Hymn "Just As I Am." Casket bearers will be Peter Olson, Scott Johnson, Jeremy Barnes, Brian Kesting, Corey Korth, Justin Roberts. Honorary casket bearers will be the American Legion Auxiliary, Pierce. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Asera Care Hospice, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Fund.
