James "Jim" M. Krueger

NORFOLK – Memorial service for James M. “Jim” Krueger, 86, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Ray Wilke and Rev. Chris Asbury will be officiating. Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday also at the church. Graveside inurnment will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2026 at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Jim passed from this earthly life on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Jim was born on May 29, 1940 to Paul J. and Elizabeth (VanBoening) Krueger on the family farm in Adams County, Nebraska. He was baptized into the Christian faith on June 13, 1940, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill. Jim attended parochial school at Trinity Lutheran School through the 8th grade and was confirmed on May 16, 1954. He graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1958. Following graduation, he farmed the family land alongside his brother, Alan. On September 10, 1960, Jim married Marilyn Grabill at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were richly blessed with 65 joyous years together and two daughters Brenda and Beth. After farming, Jim worked for a finance company in Hastings before being transferred to Norfolk in 1967. He began his long career in banking at DeLay First National Bank. In 1990, he joined the Commercial State Bank of Hoskins and they opened the Commercial State Loan Production Office in Norfolk, which later became Elkhorn Valley Bank and Trust. After 38 years in finance and banking, Jim retired in 2000. An active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk, he held several positions within church leadership. Jim also served on the Board of Directors for the Lutheran Community Hospital (which later became Faith Regional) for 20 years and was a long-standing member of the Norfolk Optimist Club, serving in leadership roles at both the local and state levels. In his free time, Jim enjoyed golfing, camping, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Marilyn Krueger of Norfolk, daughters Brenda (Steve) Kimes of Norfolk, Beth (Sean) Schommer of Rogers, AR, 4 grandchildren Ryan (Lacy) Kimes, Emily Kimes, Grant Schommer, Christian (Regan) Schommer, 3 great-grandchildren Rylie, James, and Addison Kimes, brother Glen (Kay) Krueger, sister Elaine Beezley, sisters-in-law Betty Krueger, Mariel Krueger, Janice Krueger, and Nancy Krueger. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Elizabeth Krueger, siblings Eleanor and her husband John Brehm, Sylvia and her husband Clarence Bell, Dalvin and his wife Lucille Krueger, Paul and his wife Dona Krueger, Les Krueger, Kenneth Krueger, Wendell Krueger, Alan Krueger, and brother-in-law Bill Beezley.
