NORFOLK – Memorial service for Janice E. Doering, 77, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 30, 2024 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Rev. Gordon Braun is officiating the service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Janice passed away on Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Janice was born on October 16, 1946 in Osmond, NE to Raymond and Vera (Leunhagen) Carlow. She was raised on a farm West of Bloomfield and attended country school until 6th grade and then attended Bloomfield Schools and graduated in 1965. On April 12, 1966 Janice married Roger Doering in Denver CO. The couple lived in Crofton for two years where she worked at Newbeny’s Café. In 1968 the couple moved to Bloomfield until 1973 where they raised three children Dennis, Julie, and Jennifer. In 1973 the family moved to Hartington where Janice worked at the Cedar Pig Coop where she helped take care of all the pigs. in 1979 the family moved to Beemer where Janice worked at the Beemer Coop until 1982. When they moved to Norfolk in 1982 Janice did babysitting until 1984 when she went to work for Goodwill Industrial until 2004, she was a retail clerk for 20 years. Janice was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 25 years and president for 3 years. She was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk for over 25 years. Janice helped with many funeral lunches at the church. She was always around to help her neighbors. She also gave her neighbors extra produce they had in the garden. Janice was not only a great gardener but also loved roses and flowers. Janice was survived by her husband Roger Doering of Norfolk, children Dennis (Sherie) Doering of Norfolk, Jennifer (Rick) Myers of Norfolk, Julie Doering of Prescott, AZ, five grandchildren Devin, Dylan, Ashley, Tate, Tayler, siblings Duane (Connie) Carlow of Norfolk, and Joyce Zila of Wayne.
