Jennifer Lynn Cerny

HOSKINS -- Memorial services for Jennifer L. Cerny, 52, of Hoskins, will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Paul Hirsch will be officiating the services. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Jennifer passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Jennifer was born on August 20, 1972 to Bryce and Shirley (Kumm) Pohlman in Norfolk, NE. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Jennifer attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran school before graduating from Stanton High School in 1990. After high school she attended Northeast Community College where she received her associates degree. She then transferred to Wayne State College where she would graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Jennifer married Douglas Cerny on June 4, 1994 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton. Jennifer used her degree as an office manager until she became a full-time mom. After the kids got a little older, she wanted to contribute more to the household, she began her career at Norfolk Public Schools as a substitute para. That lead in to a permanent position as a classroom para at Woodland Park school. Last year she was ready for a new adventure. She transferred to the Norfolk middle school as the librarian. She loved making the library her own. She cherished the bonds she developed with her co-workers and the kids during her career. Her favorite job though was being a mom. She loved attending her kid’s activities, and more recently she loved being a grandma. She also loved riding on the back of her husband’s Harley in the Black Hills, especially Spearfish canyon. One of her most prized possessions was her 65 Mustang which she named “Fiona” and she always enjoyed driving around in it. Jennifer was also very proud of the fact that she was a breast cancer survivor. Jennifer is survived by her husband, Doug, son Dylan (Amy) and their children, Avery and Madilynn, daughter Emma, son Alex, and daughter Addison. Her parents Bryce and Shirley Pohlman, sister Amy (Rich) Pinkston and their children Evan and Alivia. Along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Olga Pohlman, maternal grandparents, Elmer and Viola Kumm, uncle Burnell Pohlman, and cousin Rick Schultze.
