OSMOND — Services for John G. Aschoff, 82, Osmond, will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Osmond. The Revs. Roger Schmit and Stanley Schmit will officiate with burial in the parish cemetery. Military rites will be by American Legion Post 326, VFW Post 7838, Osmond and Sons Of The American Legion in Osmond. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. rosary. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. He died Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Osmond. Born May 1, 1935, in Randolph, he was the son of Joseph and Lucy (Schlichting) Aschoff. He graduated from St. Francis High School in Randolph in 1953. He served in Korea from 1957 to 1959. He married Rita Schmit on June 2, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Osmond. The couple lived in the Sholes area and farmed. The family moved to the Osmond area in 1965 and farmed. John and Rita moved to town in June of 1997. John enjoyed being with his grandchildren and family, bowling and playing cards. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Osmond, the Catholic Order Of Foresters, held various church offices, and was a past member of the Osmond school board, V.F.W. and the American Legion in Osmond. Survivors include spouse, Rita Aschoff, as well as their kids, Jackie (Dan) Haselhorst of Randolph, Jane (Paul) Bilau of Lincoln, James (Tonda) Aschoff of Plainview, John (Jodi) Aschoff of Osmond, Jefferey (Maelyn) Aschoff of Stanton, Jerel Aschoff of Osmond, Julie (Philip) Labadie of Plattsmouth, Jason (LaVail) Aschoff of Osmond, Janelle (Troy) Habernan of Emerson, Joseph (Angie) Aschoff of Osmond and Jennifer (Justin) Williams of Lincoln; 36 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; a sister, Irene (Gary) Payton of Fairbanks, Iowa; a sister, Alfreda Moser of Randolph; a sister, Lucelle (Cornelius) Schmit of Fremont; a brother, Eugene Aschoff of LaVerne, Calif.; and a sister, Marie Korth of Randolph. He was preceded intodDeath by his parents, Joseph and Lucy Aschoff; a grandaughter, Kelly Jo Haselhorst Swanson; a stepgrandson, Joshua Hoile; and brothers-in-law Floyd Moser and Harold Korth Jr. Music will be provided by organist Melissa Lind with St. Mary’s Choir singing “Here I Am Lord,” “Gather Your People,” “Supper Of The Lord,” “I am To Old to Die Young,” “Song Of The Body Of Christ,” “A Love Without An End. Amen” and “We Remember.“ Casketbearers will be his sons: James Aschoff, John Aschoff, Jeff Aschoff, Jerel Aschoff, Jason Aschoff, Joe Aschoff.
