Joyce L. Frevert

NORFOLK — Services for Joyce L. Frevert, 84, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Norfolk, with burial at the Bloomfield City Cemetery. Officiant will be Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Organist will be Terri Hankins. Joyce Leona Frevert entered into eternal rest on February 4th, 2015 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton NE. Joyce Leona Frevert was born September 9, 1930 to Fred & Leona (Karlin) Merchen in Norris, SD. Joyce was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and attended rural school there until moving with her family to Bloomfield, NE. She graduated from Bloomfield High School May 20th, 1948 with honors. Joyce received “Normal Training” while in high school and then taught in a rural school for 3 years prior to her marriage. Joyce married Myron Frevert on June 16th, 1951 at First Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomfield, NE. They had five children: Lauren (Jim) Millikan, children Matthew & Jed; Gayle Frevert; Claire Frevert; Mark Frevert, children Chad & Kari; Jolene (Jeff Neal) Frevert. Joyce and Myron farmed south of Bloomfield where she was an active member of First Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a true farm wife working diligently with Myron in all aspects of their farming operation. In 1989 they retired and moved to Norfolk, NE where she was also an active member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Throughout her life she was involved in Ladies Aid, LWML, and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 4-H leader for many years and enjoyed her Happy Hour Social Club. Joyce was a “lifelong teacher” of many things to her family. A few of the things she enjoyed in life were gardening (especially her rose garden), embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, music, playing games (Taboo and Dominoes). Family members will always remember her chicken dumpling soup, home canned peaches, and gooey cinnamon rolls. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family & friends. She was known to many for her loving, caring, nurturing and compassionate spirit. Her faith, sense of humor and actions in life will always be an inspiration. She is survived by her husband Myron Frevert of Stanton, four daughters, Lauren (Jim) Millikan, Gayle Frevert all of Norfolk, Claire Frevert of Aurora, and Jolene Frevert (Jeff Neal) of Topeka KS. Joyce has four grandchildren Matthew (Stacy) Millikan, Jed (Julie) Millikan, Chad Brummels, and Kari(Tyler) Tunink. There are six great-grandchildren : Tanner & Connor Millikan; Travis, Kayla & Ashlynn Millikan; and Breanne Tunink. She is also survived by six siblings: Rose Marie Kolar, Alice June (Donald) Gilsdorf, Fern (Roger) Nohr, JoAnn (Al) Kuper, Connie (Norm) Rentschler, and Neal (Gloria Sax) Merchen; sister-in-law Valerie Frevert and many nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by son Mark , her parents, brother Marvin, brothers & sisters-in-law Marilyn Merchen, Francis Kolar, Wesley & Marjorie Frevert, Dale Frevert, Vernelle & Alvin Mumm, and Eunice Dalton. Pall Bearers will be Matthew Millikan, Jed Millikan, Chad Brummels, Kari Tunink, Travis Millikan, and Tyler Tunink. Honorary Pall Bearers are Stacy, Tanner and Connor Millikan, Julie, Kayla and Ashlynn Millikan, and Breanne Tunink.
