NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Joyce Greenough, 92, of Norfolk will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Pastor Caitlin Bentzinger. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Memorials may be made to the family for a later designation. Joyce passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024 at the Heritage of Bel-Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Joyce was born on September 12, 1932 in Meadow Grove, Nebraska to Harold and Leola (Halsey) Austin. She attended grade school at Deer Creek Country School near Meadow Grove and graduated from Meadow Grove High School in 1950. She married William A. Greenough on May 27, 1966 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She worked several years as a nurse’s aide at Our Lady of Lords Hospital in Norfolk. She loved to garden, ride horses, cook, bake, make jelly, and was famous for her Rice Krispy bars. She was a member of the Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk and a long-time member of the Norfolk Saddle Club. Survivors include her children Marlea Wilcox of Norfolk, Kevin Wilcox of Denver, CO, Faron (Cari) Greenough of Kearney, son-in-law Ron (Lori) Klein of Newport, NE, step-children Anita Clyde of Norfolk, William (Judy) Greenough of Norfolk, Mary (John) Kringel of Hickman, Jerald “Jed” (Diane) Greenough of Dannebrog, 19 grandchildren, numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Greenough on May 20, 2020, son Steve Wilcox, daughter Tami Klein, parents Harold and Leola Austin, and her brother Donald Austin. Casket bearers will be Kerry Eucker, Jacob Klein, Jared Klein, Jami Klein, Aaron Peyton, Troy Mach, Monte Shed, and Ron Klein.
