Larry E. Wynn

PIERCE -- Funeral service for Larry E. Wynn, 83 of Pierce, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, Nebraska American Legion Riders, and the United States Army Honors Guard. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Larry died on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Larry was born on April 15, 1941 in Norfolk, NE to Lawrence and Ruth (Horn) Wynn. He attended Meadow Grove Public schools, graduated from Meadow Grove High School in 1958. After high school Larry farmed with his dad a few years. Larry moved out to California was helping lay carpet and tile. Larry was drafted into the military for two years and he was stationed in Germany. He married Linda Anderson, April 15, 1966 at Sepulveda, CA. After Larry was discharged, he was in the National Guard. The family moved back to Norfolk in 1969. Larry worked at Best Decorators doing carpet and tile work and also helped on the family farm. He then went into farming full time milking cows, farrowing and raising hogs, as well as a cow/calf operation. Larry was known for his great work ethic. Larry was involved with FFA and the 4-H program in Pierce County. Larry enjoyed bowling, reading, coffee and lunch time at the Village Inn in Hadar, calving season, and deer hunting on his property up at Verdigre. Survivors include wife Linda Wynn of Pierce, daughters Tricia Vowell of Pierce, Tammy Darville of Norfolk, four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, siblings Sherry James of Meadow Grove, Jack (Kathy) Wynn of Newman Grove, Roger Wynn and friend Sue Berg of Tilden, and numerous nieces and Nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Ruth, brother in infancy, son Jason Wynn, son in-law Carl Darville, and brother in-law Boyd James. Casket bearers will be Jarrod Cheney, Cole Cheney, Barry Schomberg, Nathan Furstenau, Darek Maxwell, and Craig Hayes.
