Lola F. Shaneyfelt

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Lola F. Shaneyfelt, 89, of Norfolk will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk with Pastor Ryan Taylor officiating. Interment will be at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am, prior to the Funeral also at the church. Lola passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at the St. Joseph's Care Center in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Tabitha Society (Lutheran Women’s Missionary League) at Our Savior Lutheran Church and /or to Our Savior Lutheran Church general fund. Lola was a 1962 charter member of this church. Lola was born on November 28, 1927 in Madison, NE to Arthur and Esther Vonderohe. In later childhood, she was raised on the family farm in Pierce, NE. She graduated from Pierce High School in 1945. Lola attended Western Union Telegraph School in Omaha, NE. In September, 1948, Lola married Berle Greckel at Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk. While raising their family, Lola also worked at Petring Ford Motor Co., and as church secretary at Our Savior Lutheran Church, then as a secretary at Norfolk Iron and Metal. Later Lola became a realtor and broker for Century 21 Fischer Realty. She also was manager of the Style Shop from 1980-1986. She was active in Tabitha Society. She was a member of the Ida Nichola Book Club. She was an avid bridge player, golfer, and enjoyed dancing and oil painting. She cherished her time with friends and family. Lola married Glenn Shaneyfelt in November, 1982. Together they retired in 1987 and spent the winters in Sun City, AZ for many years while remaining residents in Norfolk, NE. They enjoyed 33 very happy years together. Lola is survived by her 2 daughters and their spouses, Denine (Stan) Cook of Norfolk with 2 grand-daughters, Dr. Jenna Cook of Lincoln, NE and Maggie (Bryce) Dolan of Bellevue, NE. Also, daughter Cindy (Paul) Heller of Scottsdale, AZ with 3 grandsons, Joshua Heller of Phoenix, AZ, Luke Heller of Scottsdale, AZ and Zachary (Erica) Heller of Mesa, AZ. Lola is also survived by 4 step-children. Glenda (Doug) Felber of Omaha, NE with their children, Adam (Anna) Felber of Hamburg, IA and Andrea (Paul) Dizona of Omaha, NE. Rick (Susan) Shaneyfelt of Lincoln, NE with their children Michelle (Brian) Sullivan of Lincoln, NE, Ryan Shaneyfelt of Omaha, NE, and Jason (Kacey) Shaneyfelt of Lincoln, NE. Son-in-law Dennis (Jerri) Kottwitz of Clever, MO with their daughters Emily (Chris) Kemmer of Henderson, NV, Amber Kottwitz of Menlo Park, CA, and Kristin and Bethany Kottwitz, both of Clever, MO. Georgia (Pat) Briggs of Wamego, KS with their children Graham Briggs of Raytown, MO, Travis Briggs, Keri Briggs and Shane Briggs all of Wamego, KS. Lola also enjoyed 9 great-grandchildren. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Arthur and Delmar Vonderohe, nephew Lynn Schwartz, nieces Barbara and Diane Vonderohe, 1 sister Leona Schwartz, ex- spouse Berle Greckel, step -daughter Cheryl Kottwitz, step -daughter in law Judy Shaneyfelt, and Lola’s husband Glenn Shaneyfelt.
