Luella F. Smith

NORFOLK -- Memorial service for Luella F. Smith, 92, of Norfolk, will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Burial will follow at the Clearwater Cemetery in Clearwater, NE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Luella passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Luella Fay Haake was born April 23, 1932 to Henry and Ida Haake in Chambers, NE along with her twin sister Luetta. She graduated from Neligh High School in 1950. On September 24, 1950 she married Harold (Chuck) Filsinger. They had 2 children, Cindy and Roger. Chuck passed away on April 8, 1976. Luella worked at Wetzel & Truex Jewelers for a short time. She met James Parker and they were married on June 19, 1977, later they moved to McAllen, TX. While in Texas they opened Aunt Lu’s Pastries. She started the bakery with her delicious cinnamon rolls. All pies, cakes, & breads were made from scratch. They retired and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She loved Jim’s children, Mike, Leslie, and Sarah like her own. Jim passed away on November 28, 2003. Luella met the love of her life, Earl Smith, in 2008. They split their time between Texas and Prescott, Ontario Canada. They were married on March 21, 2009. She loved his children Mark, Susan, & David and their families. They had over 10 years of being together and enjoyed each so much. Earl passed away on September 6, 2019. Luella moved back to Norfolk and resided at the Meadows. She and Chuck were charter members of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Her faith was always a big part of her life. She loved God and her family and friends. She was a very beautiful woman inside and out. Luella is survived by her children, Cindy Ganskow, of Norfolk, NE, Roger Filsinger, of Donna, Texas, Leslie (Terry) Williams, Mike (Claudia) Parker, Sarah (Greg) Arorse of Colorado, David (Wendy) Smith, Mark (Cindy) Smith, and Susan Smith of Ontario, Canada. She had 5 grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Ange (Mark) Warner, Ariel & Drew, Jesse (Jenny) Ganskow, Austin & Cooper, Kellie Nichols, Jayla & Lauryn, Aaron (Kelly) Filsinger, Ashlon (Aracely) Filsinger, and many bonus grandchildren & greats also. Along with nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Chuck, Jim, & Earl. Son-in-law Steve Ganskow, daughter-in-law Paula Filsinger, sisters, brothers, and in laws.
