Margaret M. Zautke

PIERCE — Services for Margaret M. Zautke, 93, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Pierce. The Rev. Leon Rosenthal will officiate. Burial will be at the Prospect View Cemetery in Pierce. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Monday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. She died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at the Plainview Manor. Margaret Zautke was born April 11, 1925, at rural Royal to Henry and Louise (Wacker) Knuth. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Bazile Mills. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1943, and received her teachers certificate from Wayne State College. Margaret married Delbert Zautke on Sept. 12, 1946, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. She taught country school at Plainview. After they married, the couple farmed northeast of Pierce. They retired and moved to Pierce in 1984. Margaret enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing and taking trips to the casino. She enjoyed taking baked goods to the Pierce County Fair. Margaret also did wedding cakes over the years. She has been a resident of the Plainview Manor since June 2017. Margaret was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Pierce and the Pierce Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her four daughters, Sandy Fauser of Pierce, Phyllis (Ron) Haase of Battle Creek, Lynette Henzler of Hoskins and Julie (Dave) Asmus of Hoskins; son Keith and wife Claresa Zautke of Pierce; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lois Baldwin of Creighton. She was preceded in death by parents Henry and Louise; husband Delbert; two sons-in-law, Burt Fauser and Jim Henzler; sisters Louise Miller and Mae Keller; and a brother in infancy. Organist for the services will be Jean Zautke, with congregational hymns "In The Garden" and "On Eagle’s Wings." Casket bearers will be Blake Paprocki, Curt Asmus, Frank Murphy Jr., Austin Schmale, Zach Brenden and Brock Serven. Honorary casket bearers will be Khristy Schmale, Karla Breding, Kari Paprocki, Lottie Mazour, Mary Eckert, Shelley Serven, Jenny Brenden and Amy Miller.
