Marjorie R. Koehler

PIERCE – Funeral services for Marjorie R. Koehler, 85 of Pierce, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Pierce, NE. Reverend Jacob Tuma and Reverend Drew Oswald will officiate the service. Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery rural Pierce. A visitation will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday August 29, 2024 also at the church. Marjorie passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Faith Regional Hospital, Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of the arrangements. Marjorie was born on January 10, 1939 in Pierce, Nebraska to Rudolph and Lillian (Brueckner) Synovec. She was baptized and confirmed on April 6, 1952 at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Pierce. She attended Pierce Public School and graduated from Pierce High School in 1957. On August 8, 1959 she married Darrel Koehler at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Pierce. After marriage they lived in Norfolk and Marjorie worked in the office for the Norfolk Chamber. The family then moved east of Pierce and later north of St John’s Church in 1974 to a farm where they have remained for over 50 years. Marjorie enjoyed her family, quilting, sewing, reading, playing cards (especially pinochle), playing Kismet, gardening, crocheting baby blankets, visiting with friends, making her homemade whipped topping for different desserts and homemade bread and bean soup. Survivors include her husband Darrel Koehler of Pierce, children Lisa Lakin of Freeman, South Dakota, Robin (Tom) Meyer of Norfolk, Audra Koehler of Omaha, Rhonda (Bill) Rhoades of Omaha, daughter-in-law Paula Koehler of Pierce; nine grandchildren, Brent Lakin, Travis (Kristi) Lakin, Jennifer (Reverend Drew) Oswald, Kyle (Kalleigh) Meyer, Aliah and Alec Rhoades, Scott Koehler, Nicole (Jason) Schwarting and Cody Koehler, 10 great-grandchildren and one due in September, and sister Claryce Townley of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents Rudolph and Lillian, son Jeff, stepfather William A. Koehler, siblings Duane Synovec and Alen Ott. Casket Bearers will be Brent Lakin, Travis Lakin, Kyle Meyer, Alec Rhoades, Scott Koehler, Nick Koehler and Brett Koehler. Honorary casket bearers will be Clay Silhacek, Dallas Schulz, Leslie Schulz, Braden Neusch, Roger Koehler and Cody Koehler. The organist will be Jill McElhose.
