Marlene B. Kleensang

NORFOLK -- Memorial services for Marlene B. Kleensang, 81 of Norfolk, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. John E. Nelson Jr. will officiate. Inurnment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin an hour prior to services at the church. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. She died Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Marlene was born on May 22, 1934 to Kenneth and Marvel (Clifton) Barritt in Norfolk. She was confirmed June 21, 1964 as member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Norfolk, NE She attended grade school at Washington Elementary in Norfolk, and graduated from Norfolk High School in 1952. She was also Norfolk High School’s Sports Queen in March of 1952. Marlene was formerly married to Ron Sanders on April 6, 1952. She later married LeVern (Vern) Kleensang on September 10, 1988. After marriage she lived in Norfolk then traveled to live in San Diego, CA while Ron was in the Service. They lived briefly in St. Paul, MN before making her home in Norfolk for the remainder of her life. Marlene began her career as a Sales Clerk in the Dress Dept at J.M. McDonalds now Herbergers until retiring in 1990. She thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. Marlene enjoyed sewing, painting, crafting and making many holiday items for craft bazaars, friends and family. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren spending time with them in the kitchen baking special treats. She also enjoyed life on the farm with fuzz butt chickens, ducks, and turkeys, traveling, rock hunting, gardening and bird watching with Vern. Survivors include her sons Dan and wife Cinda Sanders of Hadar, Karl and wife Shirley Sanders of Fort Collins, CO, Mark and wife Darla Sanders of Pierce, Eric and wife Kathy Sanders of Norfolk, step-son Bryan Kleensang of Clarkson, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, brothers Kay and wife Betty Barritt of Stuart, NE, Ron and wife Virginia Barritt of Norfolk, Jim and wife Darlene Barritt of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by both Ron and Vern in 2008, parents Kenneth and Marvel, step-son Steven Kleensang. Organist will be Terri J. Hankins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rilye Sanders, Seth Sanders, Collin Kenny, Ashton Beasley, Owen Dixon, Kaden Froehlich, and Porter Froehlich.
