Mary Ann Droescher

NORFOLK -- Services for Mary Ann Droescher, 88, of Norfolk will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel with burial in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery and the Rev. Nathaniel Winkel officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. She died Friday, May 3, 2013, at Homestead Assisted Living in Norfolk. She was born April 7, 1925, at Pierce to Orlando Beemer and Leana (Schwede) Beemer. She attended District 64 through the eighth grade and graduated from Pierce High School in 1943. She married Delbert Droescher Oct. 7, 1945, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce. Mary Ann was called to her Heavenly home May 3, 2013, at the Homestead Assisted Living where she made her home this past year during her fight with cancer. She made many new friends at the Homestead. In 1992, Mary Ann retired after 30-plus years of service at the Norfolk Regional Center. Her hobbies were making quilts for her family. In her spare time she baked, canned, sewed, crocheted, knitted, made Cabbage Patch Dolls and their clothes, ceramics, puzzles and crafting. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She went all out for every holiday. Survivors are her three sons, Randy and wife Dianne Droescher of Larchwood, Iowa, Keith and wife Vickie Droescher and Craig and wife Roxanne Droescher, all of Norfolk. There are eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Mae Chapman, San Jose, Calif., Doris Johnson, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Joyce Klug, Battle Creek; one sister-in-law, JoAnn Thompsen, Fremont; along with many nieces and nephews; special friend, Linda Hunt and daughter of Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlando and Leana Beemer; her husband, Delbert Droescher; and oldest son, Larry Droescher; and one brother, Roy Beemer. Today, we say good-bye to our sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed by many. Upon Mary Ann's request memorials are to the Ladies Aid of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Hadar. Organist will be Anne Gumm and soloist Joe Gumm with "Rock of Ages" and congregational hymns, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "I Am But a Stranger Here." Casket bearers will be Steve Klug, Andy Klug, John Klug, Rodney Beemer, Dennis Droescher and Gene Schwede.
