Mary Ann Finch

NORFOLK – Celebration of Life for Mary Ann Finch, 84, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Pastor Cal Kapels and Pastor Michael Moreno will be officiating the services. Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Mary Ann passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025 at her residence in Norfolk with her family at her side. Mary Ann was born on April 19, 1941 to Henry and Johanna (Kuhl) Gerdes in Osmond. She was baptized May 11, 1941 and confirmed on April 11, 1954 at Osmond Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She graduated from Osmond High School in 1958. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Duane Lee Finch on August 22, 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. To this union they were blessed with eight children, Lorry, Dori, Bette, Connie, Annette, Amy, Jami and Jason. Mary Ann farmed in the Page and Osmond area with her husband. They then moved to Norfolk where she worked at the Cattleshed, Sale Barn Cafe, managed Kerr McGee gas station with her husband, Sherwood Medical, Gibsons, Golden Rule, Walmart, and Pic N Save/Sunmart. She volunteered at Faith Regional Health Services and the Salvation Army. Her pastimes were spending time with family and friends, sudoku puzzles/playing words with friends on her phone, attending Bible studies/retreats and Women’s Connection, and going on various vacations with family. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting and embroidering. Mary Ann is survived by her children, Bette (Ron) Lingenfelter of Norfolk, Connie (Joe) Sackville of Norfolk, Amy (Terry) Martin of Joplin, MO, Jami (Tim) Koenig of Norfolk, Jason (Regina Kallhoff) Finch of Neligh and son-in-law’s Eugene Metteer of Shelby and Robert Pittet of Norfolk. 18 grandchildren 25 great grandchildren. Brother LeRoy Gerdes of Osmond, sister-in-law’s Diana Gerdes of Ashland, Helen Brown of Portland, OR, and Margie Zimmermacher of Placentia, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry and Johanna (Kuhl) Gerdes, husband Duane Finch, daughters Lorry Finch, Dori Metteer, and Annette Pittet, grandson Joshua Pittet, and brothers Alvin, Leonard, Harold, and Roger.
