Merridy "Marty" L. Tomasek

NORFOLK – Funeral service for Merridy L. “Marty” Tomasek, 72, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Marshal Hardy will be officiating the service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. In memory of Marty, the family asks that casual attire be worn for the service. Marty passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the Faith Regional Hospital as a result of a vehicle accident. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Marty was born on December 8, 1952 in Casey, Iowa to Noah “Bud” and Etta (Drake) Dillinger. She attended grade school in Menlo, Iowa and graduated from Menlo High School. She then attended South West Iowa Community College receiving her Associates Degree and then received her Bachelor’s Degree from JFK College in Wahoo in Elementary Education with a P.E. endorsement. Marty married Bryan D. “Zip” Tomasek on September 30, 1981 in Madison, NE. After marriage the couple lived in Hoskins and then later moved to Andy’s Lake in 2008. Marty operated her own in-home daycare while living in Hoskins and then later worked for Pilger Sand and Gravel/Central Sand for over 30 years. She enjoyed watching Gonzaga Basketball, Nebraska Cornhusker Football and Volleyball, coaching softball in Hoskins, shooting darts, playing shuffle board, and making “goodies.” She loved to attend and watch her grandsons’ activities and being at those events at least one hour prior to starting so she could have a good parking spot. Survivors include her son Michael (Amanda) Tomasek of Stanton; daughter Sara Tomasek of Franklin, TN; four grandsons, Keigan, Carson, Cooper and Chase, sisters Virginia Dillinger-Bevington of Des Moines, IA, and Dorothy Dillinger of Des Moines, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband Bryan “Zip” Tomasek in 2016, and parents Noah “Bud” and Etta Dillinger, and parents-in-law Arnie and Wanda Tomasek. Casket bearers will be Keigan Tomasek, Carson Tomasek, Cooper Tomasek, Chase Tomasek, Steve Tomasek, Chris Tomasek, and Nic McCarthy.
