Milton M. Hansen

PIERCE -- Milton "Tubby" Hansen, 84, of Pierce died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Pierce Manor. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christ Lutheran Church here with burial in Prospect View Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel. Milton M. Hanson was born June 25, 1926 in Plainview, Nebraska to Peter and Bessie (Turek) Hansen, along with a twin sister Mildred. He attended Pierce rural schools to the 8th grade. In the early years of his life Milton hauled livestock, farmed, and worked at Mel's Bar in Pierce. He married JoAnn Wragge on July 11, 1951 at Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce, Nebraska. After they were married, they farmed north of Pierce and Â Milton also measured land for the A.S.C.S office in Pierce. The couple retired from farming in 1989 when they moved to Pierce. Milton and JoAnn did a lot of traveling around the United States. They wintered in Mission, Texas for many years. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary July of 2011. Milton enjoyed family times together along with many camping outings, fishing trips, and playing cards. He had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed talking to people. He delivered church service recordings to the shut-ins for many years.Milton is a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. He served on many church boards and the country school board of education. He has been a resident of Pierce Manor since May of 2010. He is survived by his wife JoAnn Hansen of Pierce; Two daughters: Susan and husband Jerry Richling of Pierce;Sandy and husband Randall Silhacek of Pierce; Five granddaughters and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry in 1978, twin sister Mildred, and brother Harry. Officiating will be Reverend William Koeber. The organist is Lisa Gerdes with soloist Rick Higgins singing "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden". Congregational hymns are "How Great Thou Art" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Casket bearers are Ronald Hansen, Gary Koehler, Charles Wragge, Douglas Wragge, Lloyd Wragge, and Steve Wragge. Honorary casket bearers are Michelle Richling-Wood, Jennifer Bauer, Amy Wilson, Kelly Stava, and Jody Silhacek.
