Odella "Norma" Bilau

NORFOLK — Funeral Service for Odella “Norma” Bilau will be held at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Norfolk, Nebraska on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 10:30 am. Officiates will be Reverend Steve Lund and Reverend Matt Bahnfleth. Visitation will be held at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk, Nebraska on Monday, June 16, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Rural McLean. Pallbearers are Chris Bilau, Joe Bilau, Stacy Settgast, Tammy Larson, Heather Barry, Tony Bilau, Elizabeth Urbina, and Ross Urbina. Organist will be Marsha Burke. Odella “Norma” Bilau, age 91, died peacefully on June 13, 2014 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska. Norma was born January 22, 1923 near Rake, Iowa, to Nels T. and Olga (Erdahl) Hanson. After high school she went to work in Omaha, Nebraska where she met her husband Arthur Gustav Bilau. They were married on August 12, 1944 in Omaha, and moved to a farm near Osmond, Nebraska where they farmed and raised 6 children. Norma and Art were members of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Randolph, Nebraska. After her husband passed away in 1990, Norma moved to an apartment in Norfolk, Nebraska and joined Christ the Servant Lutheran Church. In 2012, she moved to Carter Place in Blair, Nebraska. Norma was a devoted wife and mother. When she lived on the farm, she kept busy with farm chores, church functions, gardening, canning, sewing and helping at the school cafeteria. After Norma moved to the apartment in Norfolk, she kept busy by reading, sewing and doing numerous crafts. Norma will be remembered for the many quilts that she made for family and friends. Norma is survived by her sons: Jim Bilau of Spring Lake, North Carolina, Allen Bilau and wife Ruth of Blair, Nebraska, Leon Bilau and wife Bette of Gretna, Nebraska and Paul Bilau and wife Jane of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter Kathy Urbina and husband Phil of Carlsbad, California; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren: Chris Bilau and wife Betsy of Blair, Nebraska with Casey and Lainey; Joe Bilau and wife Kelly of Kalispell, Montana with Luke, Owen and Lizzy; Tammy Larson and husband Devin of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, with Ashley, Ally, Magdalena and Victoria; Stacy Settgast and husband Sean of Ft. Gordon, Georgia with Austin and Wynter; Heather Barry and husband Pat of Omaha, Nebraska with Tanner, Aubrey and Chaeli; Tony Bilau of Omaha, Nebraska and Elizabeth and Ross Urbina of Carlsbad, California; and brothers: Tilmer Hanson of Owatonna, Minnesota and Marlyn Hanson of Buffalo Center, Iowa. Norma was preceded in death by her parents Nels T. and Olga Hanson, sister Hannah Toquam, husband Arthur Bilau and daughter JoAnn Glandt.
