NORFOLK – Funeral services for Orville Ernest Broekemeier, 87, Norfolk, NE will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 10:30AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins, NE. Rev. Rodney Rixe officiating. Interment will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery in Norfolk, NE. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 2-5:00 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoskins, NE. Military rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, of Norfolk and the United States Army Honor Guard. Orville was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. He was baptized into the Christian faith on November 14, 1937, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. He confirmed his faith through confirmation on April 2, 1950. Orville graduated from Osmond High School in 1954. On June 22, 1957, he married the love of his life, Kathleen Behrens in Plainview Nebraska. They spent over 67 years together. To this union four children were born, Thomas, Elizabeth, Joel, and Daniel. Orville was a farmer for many years. He worked on the family farm until 1965. He then worked at Larson Farms of Tilden and Marotz Farms of Hoskins. After retiring from farming, Orville worked for Gillette Dairy and Highland Roberts of Norfolk. Orville was an avid hunter and fisherman. His grandsons could share many stories of hunting and fishing with Grandpa. Orville also loved music. He was a part of the church choir for many years and sang at many weddings, funerals, and family events. Orville is survived by his wife, Kathleen, Sons, Thomas of Norfolk NE, Joel (Kimberly) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Daniel (Michele) of Columbus, NE, Daughter, Elizabeth(Gene) Grosc of Columbus, NE, Grandchildren - Nathan Broekemeier, Maria Broekemeier, Christopher (Melissa) Grosc, Amy (Jeff) Sadler, Jessica (Josh) Loontjer, Heath (Katie) Broekemeier, Tyler (Brooke) Broekemeier, Sara (Eric) Rosenbaum), Justin ( Mikayla) Broekemeier, Joshua Broekemeier, and Caitlin (Christian) Hall and 17 great-grandchildren. Brother James (Margaret) Broekemeier, sisters, Barbara (Marvin) Theis, Rosy Jenkins, and Judy (Gary) Acklie, as well as many nieces and nephews who knew him as Uncle Bubble Gum. Plus, all the other special people that Mom and Dad called family. Orville was preceded in death by: Parents Emil and Esther Broekemeier, Brothers, Jerry, Don, Glenn, Byron - Sisters, Phylis and Marion and Daughter-in-Law, Betsy Broekemeier.
