Pamela Jean Dennis

PLAINVIEW -- Pamela J. Dennis, 58, Plainview, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Osmond General Hospital after a year-long battle with cancer. Services will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Plainview, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Funeral Chapel, Osmond. The Rev. Nathan Metzger will officiate. She was born Oct. 14, 1953, to Bud and Lenny (Meyer) Dennis. Pamela was born in Osmond, where she attended St. Mary's School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Osmond High School in 1971. Pam was an excellent volleyball player and a member of the Pep Club. After graduation she attended Lincoln School of Commerce and worked at numerous businesses, including the Nebraska State Capitol, Denver Bell Telephone Co. and Lind & Gubbels. She also flagged for Theisen Construction Co., worked at the Pierce County Courthouse and folded clothes for Jim Peschel on Wednesday nights at the local laundromat. Pam also held employment positions at Dale Electronics and Sherwood Medical in Norfolk. Pam was married to John Schaefer, and they lived northeast of Plainview where Pam helped with the farming . She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Plainview and was a member of various organizations within the church. Pam's family always came first in her life, and she enjoyed attending their various sporting events and extra curricular activities. Pam was an outstanding cook, dancer and crocheted beautifully. "We will all miss you so much, Pam. We were very blessed to have you in our lives." Survivors include John Schaefer; two stepsons, Terry and wife Teri Schaefer, Bobby Schaefer; one stepdaughter, Jane and husband Bob Scranton; four stepgrandchildren, Philip and Carson Schaefer and Alex and Kyle Scranton; mother Lenny Dennis; four sisters, Tonda and husband Sid Moore, Teresa and husband Rod Bloomquist, Dode and husband Murray Schomaker and Bev and husband Steve Thelen; two brothers, Dan and wife Susie Dennis and Jerry and wife Alison Dennis; nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and friends, especially Darryl and Jackie Hitz. She was preceded by father Bud, infant brother Robert, grandparents Jasper and Gladys Dennis and Erwin and Dorothy Meyer. Organist will be Clint Dennis with hymns, "On Eagles Wings," "Here I Am Lord," and recorded music, "Sissy's Song." Soloists will be Dusty Shomaker, "You Raise Me Up," Lynn Reding, "Hurt and Healer Collide," and piano solo by Clint Dennis, "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers will be Jeff Schaefer, Philip Schaefer, Carson Schaefer, Alex Scranton, Kyle Scranton, Adam Bloomquist. Honorary casket bearers will be all nieces and nephews.
