Patricia I. "Pat" Koehler

PIERCE – Services for Patricia “Pat” I. Koehler, 82, of Pierce, NE will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. Interment will follow at Prospect View Cemetery in rural Pierce. Rev. Bernhard Husemann will be officiating the services. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. Pat passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Pat was born on July 10, 1943 in Pierce, NE to Ervin and Abbie (Urwin) Zierke. She attended Pierce Public Schools. She met the love of her life Dale Koehler Sr. and the two were married on August 25, 1966 in Yankton, SD. Dale and Pat lived in Pierce. Pat drove school bus for several years and worked at Sherwood’s and Dales Electronics. She also was a stay-at-home mom raising their eight children. After their children were grown, Pat worked in the switchboard and mailroom at the Norfolk Regional Center until she retired. Pat was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. Pat loved Husker football and often talked about past trips to bowl games. Some of her hobbies included bingo, gambling, scratch tickets, riding horses and listening to old country music, especially Loretta Lynn. She used to sew and crochet as well. She most enjoyed spending time with her family, grandkids, great grandkids, and great-great-grandkids, attending all of their events. She loved drinking squirt and her favorite treat was soft serve ice cream. Pat lived in Pierce in the family home until February of 2019, when she moved to the Homestead assisted living with a community of friends she cared deeply for until her passing. Pat is survived by her children, Julie (Rod) Jonson of Pierce, Michael Buske of Colorado Springs, Colo., Timothy (Connie) Buske of Millington, Tennessee, Kristi (Jeffrey) Shermer of Hadar, Dale (Melissa) Koehler Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo., Sonia (Jason) Zubrod of Pierce, Jeremy (Rachel) Koehler of Pierce and Misti Beckner of Norfolk; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Glenda Zierke of Pierce. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, her parents, Ervin and Abbie Zierke; two brothers, Leroy Zierke and Robert “Bob” Zierke; and two sisters, Connie Zierke and Donna Zierke Lewis; granddaughter Samantha Buske, great grandson Bentley Price, and great-great-granddaughter Zuri Jones.
