Shirley L. Beutler

NORFOLK – Funeral service for Shirley Lea Beutler, 78, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at the Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Rev. Mike Moreno will be officiating the service. Following the funeral luncheon, interment will be held at the Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Shirley passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024 at the Heritage of Bel Air Nursing Home in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Shirley was born on January 5, 1946 in Norfolk, Nebraska to Percy and Viola (Hansen) Andersen. She attended grade school at Christ Lutheran School in Norfolk and Norfolk Senior High School. Shirley married James “Jim” Beutler on December 30, 1962 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Shirley and Jim were neighborhood friends growing up 2 houses apart from each other. After marriage, the couple lived in Norfolk and she worked at Sherwood Medical until she retired. Shirley enjoyed making floral arrangements, collecting owls and dolls, doing seamstress work, and baking for her family. Survivors include her husband Jim Beutler of Norfolk, son Jeff (Konnie) Beutler of Norfolk, daughter Sheila (Rick) Tomjack of Bellemont, AZ, 4 grandchildren Karisa (Jared) Roberts, Kinzie Beutler, Nic Newlun (Erika), Emily (Andrew) Giralt, 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way due in September, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill (Julie) Beutler, sister-in-law Deb Beutler, and brother-in-law Don Cherington. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Percy and Viola, step-mother Bertha, siblings Violet Cherington, Walt Andersen, Juanita Adams, Arthur Andersen, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harvey and Bertha Beutler, brother-in-law Larry Beutler, and sister-in-law Karen Beutler (Larry’s first wife). Casket bearers will be Rick Cherington, Ron Cherington, Randy Cherington, Jennifer Warneke, Bryon Beutler, Aaron Beutler, Allison Beutler, Mikel Beutler, and Cheryl Cherington.
