Thomas "Tom" J. Prussa

NORFOLK -- Funeral service for Thomas J. “Tom” Prussa, 71, of Norfolk will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Peace Evangelical Church, 84512 560th Ave., Norfolk, NE 68701. Pastor Clark Jenkinson will be officiating. Interment will be at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, also at the Peace Evangelical Church, rural Norfolk. The service will be live-streamed on the Peace Evangelical Church Facebook Page. Tom passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at the Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Tom was born on November 23, 1951 in Bassett, NE to Angela Gallegan and Charles Prussa. He attended rural school until he attended and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in 1969. He then worked for several ranches in the area as well as with his father on the family ranch and was a farrier. Tom married Cecelia Ziska and moved to the home place. They had 2 children Angela and Wayne. They later divorced. Tom moved to Norfolk and worked at Four Quarters Feedlot. Tom also broke and trained horses all his life. He loved his horses especially Roanie that he raised from 6 months to 32 years of age. She was his partner and carried him through many successful roping events and rodeos. Tom married Marcia Behmer Jacobs on May 26, 1984. They were married for 39 years. They moved to Central City where he was employed at Central Scale until 1993 when they started group homes where they both worked. In late 1998 they moved to Hoskins. Tom worked at the Goodyear plant and sunset plaza until he retired. He enjoyed working on his lawn and his garden until his health slowed him down. He then enjoyed coffee time with friends and continued that when they moved to Norfolk in 2016. Tom then moved to St. Joseph’s Care Center in January of 2019. The wonderful staff there became his family. He continued to watch his favorite church programs with hours of spiritual music on Sundays. That was a very important part of his life. He loved having the grandkids around from babies to adults. He enjoyed rocking his 13 grandkids. Survivors include his wife Marcia Prussa of Norfolk, daughter Angela (Doug) Pollard of Ord, son Wayne (Jessica) Prussa of Grand Junction, Colorado, step-children Julie Lerch (Marty Hageman) of Fremont, Rick (Sarah) Jacobs of Wisner, Ryan (Stacy) Jacobs of Wisner, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters Carol McCloney of Wisner and Jodi (Rick) Manes of Muncie, Indiana.
