NORFOLK – Celebration of life service for Wayne C. King, 77, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Officiating the service will be Reverend Terry Buol. The service will be live streamed on the Stonacek Funeral Chapel Website at https://www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com/obituaries/wayne-king-18/#!/PhotosVideos. Inurnment will be held at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 16, V.F.W. Post 1644, American Legion Riders, and the United States Army Honor Guard. Wayne passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at his residence in Norfolk. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Wayne was born on March 18, 1948 in Norfolk, NE to Floyd and Amanda (Ronnfeldt) King. He grew up on the family farm, rural Pender, and attended grade school in Pender. The family moved to Norfolk where he graduated from Norfolk Senior High School. Wayne enlisted into the United States Army and served from March 21, 1968 to October 27, 1969 serving in Vietnam. He married Joan Strathman on July 26, 1970 at the Westridge United Methodist Church in Norfolk and to this union they had one son Eric, and one daughter Holly. They later divorced. Wayne worked at Gerholdt Concrete and then Goodyear in Norfolk from 1986 until he retired in 2016. He also drove truck for Gray Carriers and Gillette Dairy. Wayne enjoyed fishing (especially bullhead and catfish), camping, enjoying nature, having a McDonald’s cheeseburger and coke, and cruising Main Street with his friends when he was young. He became active with the American Legion Riders and enjoyed riding with them. Wayne was also a member of the American Legion in Norfolk. Survivors include his son Eric (Sarah) King of Saginaw, TX and their daughter Chloe, daughter Holly (Ethan) Larson of Norfolk and their children Halle and Talon, brothers Bill (Diane) King of Lincoln, Bob (Shirley) King of Stanton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Amanda King, and brothers Joey King, Kenneth King, Larry King, Don King, Gene King, Glen King, and Richard King Condolences may be expressed to the family on-line at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
