Wyoma Kaye Christiansen

NORFOLK -- A memorial service for Wyoma Kaye Christiansen, 60, Pierce, will be at. Our Savior Lutheran Church here at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Revs. Michael Awe and Lee Weander officiating. Stonacek Memorial Chapel is in charge. According to His good and gracious will, our heavenly Father called our beloved Kaye home to her eternal rest on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Considering her wishes, an intimate family committal service was conducted immediately following her death on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pierce. She was born Jan. 25, 1952, at Powell, Wyo., to William (Pat) and Irene Kittle Helms. She graduated from Helix High, San Diego, Calif., and graduated from Concordia University, Seward. She married the Rev. Keith Christiansen on May 23, 1976. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Pierce. Kaye was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for sewing produced beautiful clothing for her children and grandchildren as well as countless articles for others. She also found great joy in quilting and cooking. Kaye's gift of service was evidenced by a life of volunteerism at the various congregations and schools where her husband served throughout the years. In addition, she taught kindergarten at Trinity Lutheran School in Freistatt, Mo. Kaye's passion was for the spiritual well being of her family, regularly quoting 3 John 3: "Nothing gives me greater joy than to hear that my children continue to live in the truth." Survivors include husband the Rev. Keith Christiansen, Pierce; two sons, Aaron Christiansen and wife Julie, McFarland, Kan., Hunter Christiansen and wife Cassie of Grand Forks, N.D.; three daughters, Rebekah Sanders and husband Will of Bay City, Mich., Marykae Broberg and husband Brent of Tilden and Sarah Sullivan and husband Matt of Marshall, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren; her mother, Irene Helms, LaMesa, Calif.; two sisters, Patty Freepartner and husband Ron of El Cajon, Calif., and Susan Frazier and husband Tom of Jamul, Calif.; and a brother, Bill Helms and wife Susie of Lemon Grove, Calif. She was preceded in death by her father. In addition, Kaye strongly desired that any gifts which might be received be designated for the spiritual and physical nurture of others, in lieu of flowers. Norfolk Ave., Norfolk, NE, 68701. Organist will be Kay Marshall of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Norfolk, with congregational hymns, "Now Sing We, Now Rejoice," "Thine the Amen, Thine the Praise," "Lamb of God, the Lamb," "I'm But a Stranger Here" and "Go, My Children, with My Blessing." Soloist will be Jill McElhose of St. John's Lutheran Church, Pierce, on "The Lord's Prayer."
