Zoey M. Watson

BATTLE CREEK -- Public visitation for Zoey M. Watson, 17, of Battle Creek will be held from 3-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Celebration of life service for Zoey will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to an account set up for the family at Elkhorn Valley Bank or to the Go Fund Me account that is posted on Facebook. Zoey passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Zoey McKinzie Watson came into this world on June 8, 2006. She was the ray of sunshine that her parents Tammy (Crandall) and Mike Watson had been praying for. Our ray of sunshine left this earthly world in the early morning hours of April 14, 2024. If you were fortunate enough to meet Zoey, you had a friend. You weren’t just a friend in Zoey’s life, you were her best friend. Zoey’s circle was large because everywhere she went (and she was always on the go!) she made friends and she kept those connections across distance and time. She loved hard and cared deeply. Each and every time Zoey walked into a room, she brought a shining light with her in that megawatt smile and she handed out the best hugs with another round of hugs when she left. She was sweet, respectful, feisty and oh so sassy! She was her little brother’s best friend and his fiercest protector. She was her mother’s “mini me” and her father’s “little buddy”. Her special little giggle and the twinkle in her eyes will be deeply missed. Zoey had many nicknames bestowed upon her by family and friends and she lived up to and loved every one of them. These included being her Mama’s Redneck Princess, her Aunt Shalle’s Princess Zosaphina, her Grandma Jo’s Sweetpea, and ZoZo to many others. Zoey attended Woodland Park Elementary School before transferring to Battle Creek in third grade. Zoey was active in band, speech, one act play production, student council and FFA during high school. She also served as a Trailblazer and was named Student of the Month. In her free time, Zoey enjoyed fishing, hunting, competitive trap shooting, spending time with her cats and dogs, working on her trucks and shopping on Shein. Zoey had been employed at Hobby Lobby alongside her mother for the last two years. Zoey had plans to attend Northeast Community College to pursue a career in Auto Body. She was looking forward to learning something she thought would be fun to learn how to do and complement her love of working on her trucks. Zoey is survived by her parents and little brother and best friend, Zander; Grandparents, Phyllis and Nolan Crandall (Norfolk) and Casey Foster (Sparks); Aunts and Uncles Shalle (Tony) Wolff of Norfolk, Gina (Craig) Murphy of Runnells IA, Walker (Jessica) Wynn of Dodge, Sandy (Manny) Cubillos of Norfolk, Tammy (Jeff) Draper of Valparaiso, Dave Radford of Norfolk, Jason (Julia) Watson of Norfolk, Charlene (Levi) Engelman of Wakefield KS, Dan (Heather) Watson of Hebron, Gary (Teresa) Watson of Hebron, and Mary Watson of Kansas City KS; Several cousins who loved her deeply; beloved cats (Paisley Ann, Pickles, Gray-C, Biscuit and Scout); her “bestest boys”, Blue and Bear; and so many friends that will miss her terribly. Zoey was preceded in death by her Grandma Kathy Schweitzer, her Grandpa Charlie Watson, great-grandparents Luella Fryer-Salber, Lawrence Fryer, Lawrence Salber, Verl Crandall, Alta Crandall, Roselyn Schweitzer, Margaret Watson, Burdette Schweitzer, Burdette Watson, and Sherry Watson.
