    Nancy K. Weinberger

    April 14, 1947 - June 27, 2019

PIERCE -- Funeral service for Nancy K. Weinberger, 72, of Kearney, formerly of Pierce, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce with Vicar Joshua Mork officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Pierce. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, July 8 at the Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. Nancy died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Kearney Regional Center in Kearney. Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce is in charge of the arrangements. She was born April 14, 1947 in Osmond to Donald and Velma (Retzlaff) Couchman. She graduated from Pierce High School and Kearney State College. In 1974, she married Dale Weinberger. After their marriage the couple lived in Pierce. Nancy was an art and history teacher at Pierce Public Schools. Her husband, Dale, passed away in 1978. The family moved to Wisner and later on to Kearney where Nancy and her children were active in their church (Family of Christ Lutheran Church) and youth track club. Nancy enjoyed running and painting. She leaves behind three dogs Wheezy Sophia, Adele Evabelle and Alice the terror. Her life could not be summed up in a few short paragraphs but it was full of life indeed. Those who knew and loved Nancy realize that words of who she was will not do her justice. Nancy was an artist, always creating beauty, and she created a beautiful life. Survivors include her children, Kyley (Ryan) Cumbow of Pierre, S.D., Kristine Weinberger of Pierce, Andrew (Sam Jensen) Schroeder of Tuscon, Ariz., four grandchildren, Addison, Kaden, Gage, and Vince; siblings Connie (Clark Walter) Friend of Charlottesville, Va, and Joan (Frank) Messerli of Omaha. She was preceded in death by: husband Dale, her parents Donald and Velma Couchman and sister Jean Wagner. Dottie Ahlers will be the organist for the service. The congregation will sing “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “Amazing Grace” and “Jesus Loves Me” Condolences may be expressed to the family on-line at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
