BATTLE CREEK -- Mass of Christian Burial for Phyllis Rosezella Kirby, 96, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Battle Creek. Celebrant will be Father Pat McLaughlin. Rosary service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at the St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Battle Creek; luncheon to follow burial. The service on Saturday will be live streamed on the Stonacek Funeral Chapel Facebook page. Phyllis passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in Linn Creek, MO. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the local arrangements. Celebration of Life Service following CDC guidelines: Friday, April 16th at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 1920 N. 102nd St. Visitation begins at 3pm, with Rosary at 5pm and Mass of Christian Burial at 5:30pm, followed by social gathering in the hall. A loving wife, devoted mother, and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Phyllis was born in Newman Grove, NE and died peacefully in Linn Creek, MO. She married Francis Kirby on May 21, 1946 in Schoolcraft, NE. They raised their 15 children mostly in Omaha and later settled in the Seattle, WA region. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Kirby; daughter, Renee Ebinger-Kirby; grandson, Christopher Denney; parents, John and Elizabeth Cook; sister, EmRose Mlinar; brothers: Henry, Gilbert and Robert Cook. Phyllis is survived by her children (spouses): Theresa (Tom) Golder, Tom Kirby, Mary (Bob) Denney, Barb (Kevin) Cline, Jackie (Jim, deceased) Novotny, Joanie (Mike) Banker, Marguerite Kirby, Julie (Ishan) Vest, Anne (Henry) Kudlacz, (Daniel), John (Annette) Kirby, Kathy (James) Fountain, Paul (Tara) Kirby, Elizabeth (Brian) Kingery, and Christine Moore; 50 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials are suggested to St. Leo Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Battle Creek, or Mercy High School in Omaha.
