Beata M. Ruge

PIERCE -- Services for Beata M. Ruge, 91, of Pierce will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church here with burial in Prospect View Cemetery and the Rev. Gordon Bruce officiating. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel in Pierce. She died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Faith Regional Health Services. She was born Feb. 12, 1921, at Norfolk to Albert and Adela (Zeplin) Kortje. She was baptized March 13, 1921, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Norfolk, and confirmed June 3, 1934, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Norfolk. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1941. She was married to Walter Ruge on Feb. 10, 1943, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church parsonage in Norfolk. As a farm wife, Beata loved to cook. They farmed in the Pierce area until 1981, when they moved into Pierce. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1993. Walter, her husband, passed away Feb. 20, 1997, having been married 54 years. In April 2006, Beata became a resident of the Pierce Manor. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, do word searches and play the game Sequence, but the thing she enjoyed most was playing cards. Beata and her daughter would have supper and play cards at the Pierce Senior Center almost every Monday night. Beata also had a pitch card group at the Pierce Manor. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce and its Ladies Aide. Beata is survived by her four children, daughter Doris and husband Marvin Wragge, three sons, Kenneth and wife Betty Ruge, Delbert Ruge and David Ruge, all of Pierce; one sister, Dorthy Kubal of Omaha; grandchildren Kevin Wragge, Pierce, Susan and Allen Rinkel, Pierce, Michael and Penny Ruge of Kenosha, Wis., Lori and Steve Davis, Pierce, and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Alfred and Adela Kortje; twin sisters at birth; brothers Alfred Kortje and Dean Kortje and brother-in-law Amil Kubal. Organist will be Dottie Ahlers with congregational hymns "Rock of Ages," "Beautiful Savior," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus." Casket bearers are Ron Kortje, Tim Kortje, Kevin Wragge, Steve Davis, Michael Ruge, Allen Rinkel.
