Beverly J. Simoni

NORFOLK — Services for Beverly J. Simoni, 72, of Norfolk will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk. The Rev. Dustin Petz will officiate with private burial at a later date. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday and continue until service time at the church. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. She died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. The daughter of Eddie Price and Ethel Tristler was born Nov. 2, 1944, in Sioux City. She attended grade school and Central High School in Sioux City, later earning her GED. After high school, she married Joe Simoni and, to this union, four children were born. The family lived in Sioux City. She later lived in Grand Island for two years and then O’Neill for numerous years, working at the townhouse there. She later lived in Des Moines and Lincoln. She moved to Norfolk in 2007. In her recent years, she enjoyed her time at the Rebekah Manor making friends, cooking for her neighbors and having Nebraska football parties. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s events, playing bingo, doing puzzles and going to the ball parks to watch her children and grandchildren play ball. Her greatest love was her family. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in O’Neill and the VFW Auxiliary in Atkinson. Survivors include her children, Debbie (Jeff) Alfrey of Des Moines, Terri Simoni of Norfolk, Joe Simoni of Des Moines, Jim Simoni of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings Patricia Hansen of Minnesota, Betty Hartman of Nebraska, Peggy (Bob) Case of Iowa, Barb (Jim) Dewald of South Dakota, Audrey (James) Leming of Nebraska, Donna (Jim) Estes of Oklahoma, Joe (Michelle) Kopecky of Nebraska, Bob Kopecky of Nebraska and Bonnie (Bob) DeVall of Nebraska; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie; her mother, Ethel and stepfather Ivan Kliment; and a brother-in-law, Duane Hartman. Soloist for the service will be Jim Estes. Casketbearers will be Beverly’s grandsons: Tyler Buehrer, Zach Buehrer, Jordan Simoni, Tristan Simoni, Bryce Leapley, Eric Hollman, Steven Foltz and David Schroeder. Honorary casketbearers will be Beverly’s granddaughters: Camie, Corrina, Casey, Ashley, Brittney, Cassidy; and also her great-grandchildren.
