NORFOLK – Graveside inurnment for Daniel Fredrick “Dan” Hofmann, age 66, of Norfolk, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 18, 2025 at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, NE, located at 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE 68138. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #1 and the United States Army Honor Guard. Dan passed away on June 9, 2025 at his residence in Norfolk, NE. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Born on October 25, 1958, Daniel, affectionately known as Dan, lived a life marked by his charismatic personality, tenacity, and a ceaseless quest for knowledge. Dan grew up attending Battle Creek St. John’s elementary and Battle Creek High school. His educational pursuits laid a solid foundation for his diverse interest and skills. Dan served with distinction in the Army Air Traffic Control Unit, augmented to Cannon National Airport in Reno, NV, during the PATCO strike, a testament to his sharp focus and ability to manage complex situations with precision. Following his military service, Dan pursued various careers, including carpentry, business management, technical writing, and all aspects of the trucking industry, including driving. His work was more than a job. It was a challenge for him to always strive for excellence. Beyond his professional life, Dan was a true nature lover and an avid reader of Scripture, finding solace and joy in daily walks. His unique rapport with animals was evident in his charming interactions with local wildlife, particularly the baby squirrels that frequented his yard, eagerly responding to his call for “snack time” and his cats, Pepper, Pockets, and Booters who were excited for kitty treats. Many will remember him for his insatiable laugh, his quest for life, and his love for manicured lawns. He also had a brilliant legal mind with an unending passion for constitutional law. Dan leaves behind a (son) Daniel (Boone) D. Hofmann, (step-daughter) Megan Thompson; (brothers) Doug (Kim) Hofmann of Norfolk, NE and Darren Hofmann; and (sister) Lisa Hofmann (Casey Johnson) of Covington, LA. He was preceded in death by (mother) Lyla Haake Hofmann Kurpegeweit, (father) Donald Hofmann, (brother) Donald Hofmann Jr. (Toot), (grandparents) Fred and Viola Hofmann and Henry and Ida Haake.
