Delores D. Jarvis

NORFOLK – Memorial service for Delores D. Jarvis, 85, of Norfolk, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Community Bible Church in Norfolk. Pastor David Clement will be officiating the service. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison. Delores passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. Stonacek Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Delores was born on December 11, 1938 in Norton, Kansas to Lyal Willard and Nettie Waunita (Durham) McCormack Sr. She graduated from Beatrice Nebraska High School in 1956. She obtained a certificate from St. Joe’s School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska. She married William D. “Bill” Jarvis Sr. on February 21, 1958 at The Norton Community Full Gospel Church in Norton, Kansas. Delores, known as Dee to friends and family, laughed easily. She enjoyed gospel music, reading, singing, travel, genealogy, and collecting of cookbooks, early American lamps, and glassware. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her careers centered on nursing, accounting and secretarial. She worked at Back to the Bible in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later was an active member of Toast Masters and retired from Nebraska Public Power District in Columbus, Nebraska. She valued her faith in Jesus as her Lord and Savior and she instilled those values in her children and in their children. She had a servant’s heart and a caring hand. She will be remembered for her loving care of several family members over the years. She loved Jesus and was looking forward to seeing her Savior in heaven. She is survived by her husband Bill Jarvis Sr. of Battle Creek, children Bill (Loralie) Jarvis Jr. of Norfolk, Jeff (Karla) Jarvis of Ardmore, AL., grandchildren; Melissa (Nathan) Sellin, Monica (David) Clement, Michael (Joy) Jarvis, Nathan (Rachel) Jarvis, Joel (Kaitlyn) Jarvis, 13 great-grandchildren, sister Patricia (Orval) Dale of Tecumseh, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents Lyal Sr. and Nettie, son Jay Jarvis, daughter Lynne Jarvis, siblings; Lyal McCormack, infant sister Gordeana McCormack, Russell McCormack, Lynda Mengwasser, David McCormack Condolences may be expressed to the family on-line at www.stonacekfuneralchapel.com.
