NORFOLK – Funeral service for Dennis A. Koehler, 69, of Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th, 2016 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Reverend Chip Winter will officiate with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 5th also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. He passed away Thursday, June 30th, 2016, at his residence with his family by his side. He passed away after a four and a half year battle with lung cancer. Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk is in charge of the arrangements. Dennis Koehler was born February 12, 1947 in Pierce, NE to Alfred and Emma (Reed) Koehler. He grew up in Pierce until moving to Norfolk with his family in 1961. He attended Christ Lutheran School, and was confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Norfolk, NE. He graduated in 1967 from Norfolk Senior High School. He married Sharon Tibbs of Norfolk on June 1, 1968 at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Dennis enjoyed camping and working around their home and yard as well as buying, remodeling, and selling several homes in the Norfolk area. Dennis was associated 20 years with Singer Sewing Company, 9 years in store management, 11 years as a store co-owner with his wife Sharon, 3 years selling real estate for Dover Realtors, and the last 20 years selling insurance as an independent agent for multiple companies. Some of his memorable clients were connected with the Liberty Centre Services and Crisis Prevention Program in Norfolk. In the past he had served with United Way and a member of Kiwanis as well as the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Koehler of Norfolk, son Travis and wife Michele Koehler of Norfolk and granddaughter Richele of Stanton, NE. Son Jason Koehler and granddaughter Kassidy of Norfolk. Three sisters, Darlene and husband Roy Zautke of Norfolk, Irene Neitzke of Norfolk, Norma and husband Roger Kollmar of Riverbank, CA., and brother Herman Koehler of O’Neill, NE. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Emma Koehler, sister Delores Crow, brothers Clarence Koehler and Ervin Koehler, sister in-law Betty (Mrs. Ervin) Koehler, sister and brother-in law Phyllis and James Jones, Sister and brother-in law Elsie and Dennis Acklie. Casket bearers include Tim Spatz, Gary Doerr, Mark Acklie, Eddy Koehler, Jeff Acklie, Steve Remmereid and Mark Gubbels. Organist will be Starla Landkamer and soloist is Erica Robertson singing “It Is Well With My Soul.” Rev.
